More than 3,330 MW of baseload generation is retiring. Maine Green Line will connect up to 1200 MW of onshore wind and hydropower to the New England grid, filling the hole created by the scheduled closure of Pilgrim Nuclear Plant.
Maine Green Line:
- Diversifies the region’s energy portfolio by unlocking access to affordable clean energy.
- Provides energy with minimal impacts on climate change, the impacts of which are already being experienced with warmer waters in the Gulf of Maine.
- Fills the hole created in grid with the retirement of Pilgrim Nuclear Station with carbon free and low carbon energy.
